Meet Sarah and Guy Ghani

We are Sarah and Guy Ghani.  We are Celebrants trained and accredited by the Academy of Professional Celebrants.

We are based in Ashford in Middlesex/Surrey and cover South West London, Surrey, and Berkshire.

We have enjoyed successful careers in the NHS, which is also where we met, working in a wide range of settings in both physical and mental health.  We are both skilled communicators and have always enjoyed meeting people at key times in their lives.  Becoming celebrants has been a natural and rewarding step in our lives.

When engaging Candlewood Celebrancy you can choose either Sarah or Guy and they will be with you throughout the journey.

Meet Guy Ghani

Guy has always been a people person.  He understands that everyone brings their own unique story.  During Covid Guy once again rejoined the workforce and was Matron for a busy London vaccination centre.  His ability to work with people in difficult circumstances proved valuable in reassuring the worried, diffusing and resolving difficult and tense situations.

Since retirement, Guy has indulged a few childhood ambitions such as learning to drive old red London buses, boating on the Thames, playing his tuba and trombone in Local groups as well as scratch orchestras.  Guy and Sarah enjoy choral singing and they sing with various local and national choirs and often perform in Cathedrals up and down the country.

Whilst driving old London buses, Guy drove buses for all kinds of celebrations and events.  He regularly drove Wedding buses and Funeral buses, buses for special birthdays, for memorials; in fact, for all kinds of celebration.

Guy is creative and adaptable.  He is known for being imaginative and quick witted.  He is able deliver bespoke and highly unique services in his role as Celebrant

Meet Sarah Ghani

As a psychologist within the NHS for 35 years, the most important part of Sarah’s work has always been hearing people’s stories.  She has always found this to be a great privilege, and one that continues into her work as a celebrant.

Now semi-retired Sarah loves music, sometimes playing but usually listening, enjoying musicals and concerts of all sorts.  She also enjoys choral singing, both in a local society and in Cathedrals across the country with Guy.  She and Guy also love the outdoors, be that working in the garden or visiting beautiful gardens designed by others or roaming the countryside (the definite preference of their dog Wally!).

Now a celebrant Sarah continues to enjoy the unique part she plays in people’s celebrations, hearing about the lives of the people she meets, and their loved ones, especially the most important, poignant, complex and/or joyful times. She brings her warmth, professionalism and creativity to her writing and delivery on all occasions.
